On Thurs. Nov. 4, I presented with Dr. Hiram Moya and Ms. Kimberly Regalado on translanguaging pedagogy in Liberal Arts and STEM at UTRGV. Over 50 participants including mostly faculty attended the talk via Zoom.

This presentation is one of a series of three talks on translanguaging pedagogy at UTRGV, and it is an outcome of the Center for Bilingual Studies Scholars program during Spring and Summer 2021. The CBS Scholars program brought together six faculty from various disciplines and departments from throughout UTRGV. We each wrote articles about our experiences including translanguaging pedagogy in our diverse courses, including biology, engineering, education, and philosophy. We submitted our articles as a part of a special issue on translanguaging pedagogy in higher education at UTRGV specifically.

The manuscript which I co-authored with Ms. Kimberly Regalado (under review), presents a quantitative analysis of student translanguaging practices in two online asynchronous courses as well as an analysis of student reflections on translanguaging pedagogy. We hope that both the talks as well as the articles and volume in its entirety motivate more faculty to integrate translanguaging pedagogy into their classes.
