On Thurs. Mar. 19, I presented a Zoom session with Ms. Nicole Nicholson entitled 'Increasing Student Engagement through Technology." Ms. Alyssa Cavazos from the Center for Teaching Excellence at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley hosted this session, which was attended by over 75 faculty from the entire university. We had actually had this session planned for Mar. 19 since January, but due to COVID-19, it became much more relevant and timely.
This is a more advanced presentation. If this is your first time online, the Center for Online Learning and Teaching Technology (COLLT) has wonderful more basic trainings available. The Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) also has a wonderful section of their website devoted to Teaching Continuity and moving classes online, which is specifically relevant right now.
I am posting the recording here in case it is helpful to any other instructors out there. I would like to emphasize that it's best to try to incorporate 1 or 2 of these. You don't want to overwhelm yourselves or your students at this time. After all, we are not just teaching online or shifting to teaching online in 1 week, this is teaching during a public health crisis.
Stay well and take good care. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can help with anything.
