CoBiVa Awarded Internal UTRGV Grant

Dr. Katie Christoffersen (Applied Linguistics) and Dr. Ryan Bessett (Hispanic Linguistics) along with Ms. Estela de la Garza (Engaged Scholarship & Learning) and Dr. Angela Chapman (Engaged Scholarship & Learning) were awarded the internal 'Transforming Our World' grant created to support research projects which promote and advance UTRGV's strategic goals and mission.

This support will allow the team to the team to incorporate at least 50 sociolinguistic interviews onto the corpus in 2020. This support will increase research opportunities for student, including opportunities for research assistants, peer-reviewed publications and presentations. This corpus will be available as a free, open resource for students, staff, faculty, and researchers throughout the world interested in border languages.
